St. Charles, MO (PRWEB) July 10, 2012
As a growing portion of our population continues to age, many communities are joining forces with local organizations in an effort to promote healthy senior living. Baue Funeral Homes, Crematory and Cemetery, has been at the forefront of the initiative for the past several years with their annual Silver & Gold Healthy Living Senior Fair. The free event, now in its 8th year, will be held Tuesday, August 7 from 10:00 AM 2:00 PM at the St. Charles Convention Center.
The fair is sponsored by the Silver & Gold Senior Club of St. Charles County, Baue Funeral Homes, Crematory and Cemetery, Essence Health Care, SSM Health Care and the St. Charles Senior Citizens Advisory Commission. The free event will showcase over 100 vendors with products and services of interest to area seniors.
Highlighting the Senior Fair this year is guest speaker Dr. John Morley, M.D., Director of Geriatric Medicine at Saint Louis University. His unorthodox approach, which includes advocating against therapeutic diets, has been able to help hundreds of seniors remain vital and vibrant. Dr. Morley will be speaking on the main stage from 11:00 AM Noon.
Attendees of this years Senior Fair will be able to take advantage of a variety of free health screenings such as blood pressure and blood sugar testing as well as physical evaluations of balance and coordination. Attendees will also enjoy an array of free entertainment including music in the lobby prior to the event, the YMCA Silver Sneakers from 10:15 AM 10:50 AM, and the St. Louis Strutters from 12:15 PM 1:00 PM. Also, Frank Ingari, President of Essence Healthcare will be speaking from 1:10 PM 1:45 PM.
Seniors and caregivers participate in this event year after year, and find this fair not only beneficial, but fun as well. The products and services that will be on display are outstanding and can help our seniors live healthy, productive lives, said Lisa Baue, President of Baue Funeral Homes, Crematory and Cemetery.
In addition, the fair will feature free parking, free admission, free shuttle service from the parking lot, and attendance prizes donated by fair exhibitors.
